Test Set Up

 

I mounted and old half of a binocular on a tripod and set up to look at the Sun.

 

This worked very well.  Center left, you can see sun spot on this picture.  I checked "Space Weather" and these sun spots match up.

 Day of the Eclipse set up.   We went to the park near our house and set up for a picnic and solar observatory.   Note fierce guard dog in the shade.

Here is a picture free hand my cell phone and solar glasses.

This was taken just before peak eclipse.  To the left of you see the shadow caste by Louise's straw hat notice the "pin hole" effect.  In the lower right corner is a "pin hole" effect caused by a small hole in the corner of the box I used as a shield.
