Paca de Paja Bed and Breakfast

The Best Bed and Breakfast we have ever stayed at is the Paca de Paja.

It is the closest place to stay if you are visiting Kitt Peak.  (More on Kitt Peak later)

There are two different guest patios.  A short path on the property starts at this lower patio.  The path goes through Cholla and other cactus to a wash at the back of the property.  Our host Caroline explained how to properly remove Cholla with rocks or a comb, if you got attacked by one.   Louise said that Cholla will jump out at you.  I scoffed!  I walked the path before it was swept and promptly got Cholla embedded in my shoe.  Good thing I listened to Caroline's explanation of how to remove Cholla.  It came in handy repeatedly on this trip.
The second patio is under a car port where the guest entrance is located.

"Our Lady Of Guadalupe" rain gauge.  Caroline had a great story for this rain gauge.  It is on permanent loan from the park service.  The man who sets them up, puts the "Our Lady of Guadalupe" stickers on them to prevent damage from people who cross the border from Mexico.
Caroline showing me her solar oven.  Her home is very energy and water efficient.  The house is built out of straw bales.  (It should be obvious Paca de Paja means straw bale)  Caroline says that the walls have an R-value of about 50!

It seems to me that many Bed and Breakfasts are an explosions of flowers and garden designs.  Paca de Paje had this very macho workbench with jars of nuts and bolts.  Awesome.

On the downside of Paca de Paja there was this drunk Octopus trying to pick a fight in the bathroom.  I think he was upset about me hanging a t-shirt on him.

We strongly recommend staying at this Bed and Breakfast. Paca de Paja
