My project at work has really heated up. Exa everything and 2nd Quarter earnings are down so beating will continue.
At home we are getting the downstairs bathroom remodelled. Lousie wants me to build a bird house for the front yards. More a Bird Condo. She wants is to be ornamental I want functional. We'll meet somewhere in the middle. I made a cardboard mock up starting with an 8 x 8 square and using PHI to determine proportions. I like the shape but it is big. Crow bird house big.
In this diagram A is 8 inches. Then you find the midpoint or 4 inches on one side. Then scribe a circle with radius at that midpoint to an adjacent corner. Then draw a line extending the side with the center of the circle to meet the circle. The amount need to extend the side is B the whole side is C. Now the ratio of A to C is equal to the ratio of B to A. This value is called PHI or the Golden ration. (Note: This is not a proof. It is a demonstration of a method of constructing PHI. You can see that a value for PHI could be found by calculating (SQRT(1/2A**2+A**)+1/2A)/A Maybe not QED)
What I did was use this method to make the bird condo. The bird condo has three sub house. Each house has an AXA base. The first house is A tall. The next house is AXA by C tall. Then the third houses AXA and is C' tall. Where C' is found by constructing a square CXC and applying the same method as was applied to an AXA square. Using A=8 the next house was about 12 3/4 the third house like 20 1/2. I like how it looked. Louise felt is was too big. Bingo thought it was big enough for Crows and so didn't like it. Next try will be with A=6.
Bathroom remodel Louise is picking out bath tub and sinks.
