Had an Embrace the Suck weekend. I got word on Wednesday of last weekend that Andy Swainson's dad had died. I took Friday off and Louise and I went to the funeral. It was really sad. Mr Swainson was one of those memorable people who you meet as a teenager, and just keeps influencing your life. It was very sad to be at his funeral. But at the same time his funeral was attended by many people you hadn't seen in a long time. Friends you are just so happy to see again. Dan Ahrens, Sue Wozny and Zack Swainson were there. We talked and laughed and then remember why we were there and got sad. I found myself worrying about all sorts of silly things just to avoid thinking about the sad things. I tried my best to say the right things to Andy. I tried to listen to what he needed to say. I hope I did a good job.
So it was sad and a happy occasion. So it Sucked and I embraced it.
Sometimes, embracing the suck is what life is about. And the reality is, without the suck, we wouldn't know those good times when they came around. Hug your love! Because that doesn't suck!
