I just finished reading "Life of Pi"
I am left wondering if the observation of an allegory can itself be a allegory. Even, is the analysis of the construction of an allegory an allegory in itself. Could the analysis of the analysis of...and so on be meaningful.
Consider the function fa() which is some well defined functional analysis of a given text. Is fa(fa()) equivalent to some fa'()? Further given textual representation of any given discrete amount of information is there a fa''(txt)=txt' such that fa(fa(...)=txt'?
In addition consider the following: Msg is the meaning that author of a discrete set of content Cnt intends. That the author used a given set symbols as represented by Sym within Cnt to deliver Msg when author expects fa() is applied to Cnt. Such that fa(Cnt)=Msg. Is there a VALID fa'(Cnt)=Msg' that is also valid beyond the author original intent. If would seem apparent that a given author creates Cnt as a product of their given experience (symbolized by literally the text string aExp, since actual aExp is unknown based on limited amount of Cnt provided). Where fa() and Msg are create by a authors experience. So Wrt(aExp,Msg)=Cnt where Wrt is action of writing. That a given reader's experience (rExp) is at best an intersection of the total experiences of the author. Where Read(Cnt)= fa(Cnt) and rExp is used to create Read(). How could the reader construct fa(Cnt)=Msg? At best they could create fa'(Cnt)=Msg'. So how could fa'(Cnt)=Msg' not be valid? Perhaps not expected but not valid?
So further consider a Cnt which illustrates the validity cExp=inverse fa(Msg) verses validity the cExp'=inverse fa(Msg') is Msg=Msg' ? Where cExp and cExp' are two different version of a character's experience within Cnt. I leave it to the reader to decide.
well, I don't know, but I thought it was a good book. Nathalie is enjoying it as well.
ReplyDeleteGood book, that is it? So let me ask you this. Did the island literal exist or did it symbolically exist? If it literal existed why didn't they stay there? If it symbolocally existed what do you think it was a symbol of or for?
