OK OK I have been very busy so I haven't had time to blog.   (When Thomas Kurian speaks we all jump, the losers ask how high.)  But I am sure you have all been dying to find out what I have been building...So here is the finish product.

It's a loom!  Here it is mounted on the inkle loom stand.  Bingo is less than thrilled.

Here is the loom warped with cotton rug warp.  There is a upper and lower take up spool.  In the center is the three position heddle rest.

And finally the loom in action.  I am trying out various yarns on the weft.  There are a couple of sections rolled up on the lower take up spool.  Note the big gap between these pieces.  I am going to cut each apart and knot the ends of the warp.  They are "mug rugs" or coasters.  Not going perfect but not that bad.

  1. WAY COOL! When we were in China, we watched two men work a loom that was making brocade. It took 3 days to "string" the loom ... and the managed to weave about a meter a day. It was fascinating. I sat and watched them for a lot longer than anyone else on the tour. It was all i could do to keep from jumping in to help!

  2. Warping the loom takes way more time than anything else. A meter a day for a complex weave is still pretty fast.
